I know Ron Paul is considered to be a long-shot candidate at the moment, but I heard he’s making some big gains this week. I’ve done some investigating to see if he’s “all that.”
Some general info that I found:
“The Texas libertarian’s rise in the polls and in fundraising proves that a small but passionate number of Americans can be drawn to an advocate of unorthodox proposals such as returning to the gold standard and abolishing the income tax, CIA and Federal Reserve.”
I can heartily agree with most of that… especially “abolishing the income rape… I mean tax.” And, don’t get me started on the “double taxation DEATH TAX.” Yikes!!
“The airing of possible impeachment charges against Vice President Dick Cheney _ he appeals to a mix of liberals and conservatives who feel alienated and deeply distrustful of the government.”
Not so keen on impeachment for members of the Bush administration…. Besides, didn’t Bill Clinton’s impeachment prove to be the new chic/hip political “thing to do?” Kinda like jail time is “street cred” for rappers? Also, I’m shocked to think that anyone IS trustful of the government… see.. that too is a joke, you see, because NOBODY trusts politicians. Was that too obvious/easy?
“Where the extreme left and the extreme right meet, you’ll find Ron Paul,”
This is a good thing? I’m not sure that R. Paul… or anyone would like this distinction.
“Paul, who earned a medical degree from Duke University and embraces the nickname “Dr. No,” often casts the only House vote against proposals he sees as too meddlesome or unworthy of taxpayers’ money.”
Now I’m starting to like this guy!
“Paul said the United States should leave the United Nations because he doesn’t like giving up our national sovereignty.”
Ahhhh, Music to my ears. How nice it would be to say “bye-bye” to the UN.
Finally, I’m told he’s staunchly pro life — life at conception. With that critically positive stance Ron Paul has got my attention.
[…] What the deal with Ron Paul? […]
